A field agent app that keeps working when the signal doesn't.
Ustawi Mobile is the field operating layer for your lending institution. It gives field officers their daily worklist, borrower records, cash and mobile-money collection, receipts and visit tools — even when connectivity disappears — and syncs everything safely when the network returns.

The field workflow
The Android field agent app.
The field doesn't always have internet
A field officer on a rural route can spend hours with no mobile signal, yet borrowers still need to pay, agents still need to record visits, receipts still need to be issued, and cash still needs to be reconciled. Systems that assume a live connection simply fail here — collections go unrecorded, receipts arrive days late, and cash-custody controls break down.
The Ustawi app inverts that assumption. Connectivity is treated as optional and intermittent, not required — the agent's tools keep working whether the signal is there or not.
What the app does
Field capabilities work together: an offline-ready worklist synced from the server, offline cash and mobile-money collection that can never double-post, an instant digital receipt for every payment, GPS-verified visits with recorded promises to pay, end-of-day cash reconciliation before handoff, and device enrolment and revocation so only a trusted phone can transact.
Why this matters
For the borrower it means a receipt in hand every time, even off-grid. For the institution it means cash is controlled, visits are verifiable, and no collection is ever silently lost or duplicated — the audit trail holds together regardless of network conditions, on the same loan record the office works from.
The office manages the institution — the app executes the work
Ustawi Mobile isn't a separate product. The web platform runs the institution; the field app lets the officer execute lending and collections where the work happens — both writing to the same loan record.
One field day, from assignment to reconciliation
- 1LoginPhone number on an enrolled, trusted device.
- 2Download worklistToday's due borrowers and installments.
- 3NavigateHead to the borrower on the day's route.
- 4Verify visitRecord the visit with location captured.
- 5View loanOutstanding balance and installment on-device.
- 6CollectCash or mobile money, with a receipt.
- 7Continue offlineTransactions safely queued on the device.
- 8SyncQueued writes upload when connectivity returns.
- 9ReconcileDigital collections vs physical cash at close of day.
Where the signal drops, the work carries on
The same work continues whether the signal is there or not — and nothing is lost when it comes back.
A payment should never be collected twice because the phone reconnected. Every offline transaction receives a unique identifier, so Ustawi synchronizes it safely without creating a duplicate.
Collect cash or mobile money — and issue a receipt every time
Every collection produces a receipt immediately. Offline, that receipt is provisional until synchronization is confirmed.
Know the visit actually happened — and what was promised
Visits are captured with location and time, and a promise-to-pay is recorded at the point of visit — feeding straight into Collections.
Close the day clean, on a trusted device
Physical cash is reconciled against the digital log at end of day, and only an enrolled, trusted phone can transact — with lost devices deactivated.
Lost or stolen phone? The device is blocked, not your operation
- 1Deactivate deviceThe enrolled phone is revoked from the platform.
- 2Transactions blockedThe lost device can no longer collect or sync.
- 3Enrol replacementA new trusted device is enrolled for the agent.
- 4Agent continuesWork resumes on the replacement, records intact.

Put your field team on the same lending system as your office.
Every collection is queued with a unique identifier, every payment gets a receipt, and cash reconciles at end of day — so a full day off-grid still closes clean.

FAQ
Does the app really work with no internet?
Yes — it is offline-first by design. The agent syncs the day's worklist once, then the worklist, collections, receipts, visit logs and promises-to-pay are all recorded on-device and queued; they sync automatically when connectivity returns.
Which phones or operating systems does it run on?
The field agent app is available for Android on Google Play; an iOS version is planned.
How does an agent log in?
By phone number on an enrolled, trusted device — there is no company or email picker. The phone number resolves the agent's institution, matching the same identity pattern used across the Ustawi platform.
What can an agent collect in the field?
Cash collections and mobile-money payments, each with a receipt. Cash is reconciled against the digital log at end of day before handoff to a supervisor.
How is cash handled safely in the field?
Every collection is queued with a unique identifier so a re-sync can never double-post it, every payment gets a receipt, and physical cash is reconciled against the digital collection log at end of day.
What happens if a phone is lost or stolen?
The enrolled device can be deactivated so it can no longer transact, and a replacement device is enrolled — the agent keeps working, and the lost device is blocked.
Can a payment be collected twice if the phone reconnects?
No. Every offline transaction receives a unique identifier, so when the device reconnects Ustawi synchronizes it safely without creating a duplicate payment.
Are offline receipts final?
An offline receipt is provisional until synchronization is confirmed; once the transaction syncs and the server confirms it, the receipt is finalized.
