Why Ustawi fits a SACCO
- Payroll-deduction (check-off) lending to members as a first-class workflow
- An approval ladder gated by amount, up to board tier
- Maker-checker dual-control on sensitive actions
- A full audit trail for board oversight
- A real double-entry GL and BOT-aligned reporting
Where SACCO governance happens
At the member counter and around the board table — the same records serve both.

One member, from shares to dividend
Follow a check-off member through the SACCO: his shares, a loan repaid at source, the controls on the way, and his share of the surplus — all on one record the board can review.
Tap a stage to stop on it. Hover pauses the animation.
Try it yourself
Before a member loan is repaid by check-off, it has to fit the room left under the employer's deduction limit. Move the salary, existing deductions and limit to see the headroom.
Ceiling = net salary × limit; headroom = ceiling − existing deductions. Deduction limits are set per employer MOU.
Apps SACCOs typically enable
Employer MOU management, payroll-deduction batches, and reconciliation.
Applications, the branch→committee→board approval ladder, disbursement, repayment scheduling, restructuring, and write-offs.
Double-entry GL, chart of accounts, trial balance, period close, and VAT treatment mapping.
RBAC, dual-control/maker-checker, full audit log, and device trust.
PAR aging, BOT 5-band classification, provisioning, portfolio disaggregation, and the filings framework.
Built for co-operative governance
Co-operative governance is not a reporting afterthought — it is how a SACCO is supposed to operate. Larger loans require board-tier sign-off through the same amount-gated ladder every loan uses. Sensitive grants need a second person to approve them under maker-checker. And every such action lands in an audit log the board can review, so oversight is evidenced, not assumed.
