Provisioning a new tenant

Provisioning stands up a new lender as its own isolated tenant on the platform. It is the first step a platform operator or white-label partner takes when bringing an institution onto Ustawi, and it follows one governed path — from request to live — so a new tenant is never half-configured.

Who this is for

Tenant provisioning lives in the Multi-Tenant Platform & Billing app and is intended for platform operators and white-label resellers running Ustawi across more than one lender — not for a single institution. A single SACCO or microfinance lender simply registers its own account; provisioning is what lets an operator create and govern many such tenants from one place.

The provisioning path

  1. 1
    Request the tenant
The new lender is requested on the platform — its name, contact, and the institution it represents are captured so the tenant has a clear identity from the start.
  2. 2
    Provision it
The tenant is stood up with full data isolation. One tenant can never see another's borrowers, loans, or reports — isolation is enforced at the platform level, not left to configuration.
  3. 3
    Enable its apps
Each tenant runs its own set of enabled apps through the app switchboard, so two tenants on the same platform can run entirely different app sets.
  4. 4
    Assign a billing plan
The tenant is placed on a plan — Starter, Growth, or Enterprise — which sets its seats, branches, and the apps available to it.
  5. 5
    Go live
With apps enabled and a plan assigned, the tenant goes live and its staff can begin work.
Isolation is the whole point

Multi-tenancy is only safe if it is airtight. Every tenant's data is fully isolated and backed by the same fail-closed, role-based access controls that govern a single institution — see Admin & Security.
