Logging in by phone number

The Ustawi field agent app signs an agent in by phone number alone — there is no company or email picker. The phone number resolves the agent's institution automatically, matching the same identity pattern used across the rest of the Ustawi platform.

Why there is no company picker

A field agent should not have to remember which tenant, branch or email to choose before a day on the road. Because the phone number already identifies the agent and their institution, logging in is a single step: enter the number, authenticate, and the app knows which company's worklist to load. This is a deliberate, platform-wide convention, not a shortcut unique to the app.

Login and device trust go together

Signing in is only half of getting to work. Because the app can record cash collections and open borrower data, the phone itself must be enrolled and marked trusted before it can authenticate or post anything. A phone logging in for the first time starts as pending enrolment, with collection and worklist actions disabled until a supervisor approves it.

First login on a new phone

If your login succeeds but you cannot yet see a worklist or record a collection, the device is almost certainly still pending approval — see “Enrolling and trusting a new device.”

If a phone is lost or stolen

Access is tied to the trusted device, so an administrator can revoke that device instantly from the web portal. Once revoked, the phone can no longer authenticate or post collections, even if it later comes back online — which is why login and device trust are treated as one control rather than two separate settings.

In active development

The field agent app is in active development. It is available on Android today; an iOS version is planned.
