Reassigning a loan to a different officer
Loans outlive staff assignments — officers move branches, leave, or rebalance caseloads. Reassigning a loan moves ongoing responsibility to a different officer while keeping the loan's full history intact.
What reassignment changes
Reassignment updates who owns the loan going forward — the officer who now handles servicing, collections follow-up and the borrower relationship. It does not rewrite the past: the origination record, prior approvals and every earlier action stay attributed to whoever performed them.
What carries over
- The repayment schedule and current balance — unchanged.
- The collections timeline, DPD status and any promise-to-pay — unchanged.
- The audit trail — the reassignment itself is logged, so it is clear when responsibility moved and to whom.
Caseload and commissions
Where commissions are tied to a loan, reassignment is where you confirm how future performance is attributed — see the field-sales commission guidance.
