Tenant Setup & Branches

On this page

Creating your organization profile

Start by setting your legal name, your microfinance registration reference (for example a BOT licence number such as MFI-DSM-004821 and your TIN, 145-892-331), default currency (TZS), and fiscal year start. This profile drives every report footer and regulatory filing header generated by the platform.

Adding branches

Each branch gets a code, name, region, and contact, plus its own float and reporting scope. Branches are how Ustawi models a real multi-location institution — every loan, journal entry, and staff assignment is scoped to one.

Branch numbering sequences

Loan, receipt, and journal numbers are prefixed per branch (KRK-2026-000123 for a Kariakoo loan) so records stay unambiguous even when two branches originate a loan the same day.

Branch-scoped roles

Most staff roles are scoped to one branch — this is a security boundary, not just an org chart: a branch-scoped user sees only their branch's data, fail-closed. A few roles (CEO/Board, Tenant Admin) see across all branches.

Branch scoping is a security boundary, not just an org chart — get it right before you add staff.

Next steps

Continue to Configuring Loan Products.

You can add branches later; you don't need every branch set up before going live.
