Reading a borrower's collections timeline
The collections timeline is the single, chronological view of everything that has happened on a delinquent loan — the DPD position, every contact made, and every promise-to-pay. It is what lets anyone picking up an account see the full recovery story rather than starting from scratch.
What the timeline shows
- DPD history — how far past due the loan is and how that has moved over time.
- Contacts made — the dunning-ladder actions taken, from SMS and calls to visits and formal notices.
- Promises-to-pay — what the borrower committed to, by when, and whether the promise held.
- Field visits — including, where captured, the GPS location and time of the visit.
How to read it
Read the timeline top to bottom to reconstruct the recovery effort: which rung of the ladder the loan is on, whether a PTP is currently live, and whether previous promises were kept or broken. A pattern of broken PTPs, for example, tells you something a single DPD number cannot.
The timeline is attached to the loan, not the officer. If the loan is reassigned to a different officer, the full collections history carries over intact — so the new officer inherits the context, not a blank page.
Where it feeds
The same delinquency data behind the timeline rolls up into portfolio reporting, so an individual borrower's DPD position is also part of the PAR30/PAR90 picture the institution monitors in aggregate.
